SEND

Campton Academy SENDCo:

Mrs Sarah Fraher - 01462 813359 - sfraher@bestacademies.org.uk

At Campton Academy, staff endeavour to provide appropriately for all children regardless of any Special Educational Need (SEN) and/or Disability (D).

Staff seek additional training from external agencies in the event of a child arriving with a need for which there is no current expertise within the school.

The school’s inclusive ethos means that staff try hard to ensure that children with SEN or a disability engage as far as possible with their peers.

Being a school with high pupil mobility – due to a Service family intake – Campton Academy provides additional pastoral support for children experiencing emotional or social issues, particularly issues linked to postings or deployment.

Where necessary, staff seek additional external agency support from a variety of providers using multi-agency approaches such as the Early Help Assessment (EHA).

Staff work with Local Authority agencies to support any children with SEND who are also ‘Looked After Children’ (LAC).

For further information about SEND, please see the Special Educational Needs and Disability Policy under ‘Policies’.

Please also visit the Central Bedfordshire Council’s Local Offer (SEN & Disability).

English as an Additional Language

We support students for whom English is an additional language.  All staff are made aware of the need and adjust plans accordingly.  We monitor their progress carefully and provide learning support and mentoring for those students who are not making expected progress.  Please contact our SENDCo Mrs Sarah Fraher if you feel that your child needs more help in this area.
